In one sentence, describe your product?

CollabCare has been in the business of providing leading edge virtual care and digital health solutions to some of Australia’s leading health service providers for over a decade.

Our premier product is TeleConsult, a fully-featured, secure and scalable video telehealth platform.

What industry problem / challenge are you tackling?

CollabCare is focussed on reducing the barriers to access, increasing equity and creating more effective and affordable health services for all Australians, especially those that are at most need including, aboriginal populations, those with disability, people living in rural or remote regions, the elderly and the chronically unwell.

What is unique about your product in your market?

CollabCare brings together not only technical expertise in product development, but also has strong expertise and experience in designing and delivering health services, so we not only understand the real needs of our customers – we are partners in their journey.

What is the biggest risk to your company?

The biggest risk for our business has always been adoption of the technology. The early days saw a lot of questioning around security, privacy and clinical scope of practice – while these are important, most clinicians have come to the table with acceptance of the technology. The next big hurdle is funding, which is now opening up through Medicare in a big way.

In the new world of Coronavirus however, “virtual-first” has become the mantra for delivery of clinical services while maintaining isolation and clinician safety. Once the community sees the obvious benefits, I doubt there is a going back – telehealth will become a normal part of health delivery to stay.

What does success look like for the company?

Success for us is to see the overall industry move towards a more effective and efficient mode of care delivery to patients through the use of technology. If patients are more easily able to get the services they need at lower cost and clinicians are able to spend more of their precious time in care rather than logistics and overhead – we’ve all won.

Why should a health professional use CollabCare / TeleConsult? There are a lot of companies that provide off-the-shelf type video conferencing solutions. From experience, these only go so far in terms of security, necessary features and ability to run a regular telehealth offering. TeleConsult has been built from the ground-up for use specifically in telehealth and we have optimised the solution through years of real-live use cases in countless health scenarios.
