Top 3: Women's Healthtech in Australia

2019 saw the emergence of what healthcare publication The Medical Republic has called “Bro Medicine”.

These healthtech initiatives have included telehealth solutions tackling hair loss, erectile disfunction and psychological issues.

But has this been felt on the other set of chromosones? Women’s health has similarly appeared to carve its own niche, bundled in with what some called “Femtech”.

Here are three women’s healthtech organisations to keep an eye on in 2020:

Kin Fertility

Just last week Sydney-based Kin Fertility appeared across national media after a segment on 7NEWS.

Co-founded by Nicole Liu and Amelia Hanigan, the service means women can access the contraceptive pill, all from the comfort of their smartphone.

Convenience is the name of the game, with your prescription arriving discreetly at your door before you can blink.

Caia

Also calling the Harbour City home, Caia is Australia’s first online on demand health and wellness clinic for women and their families.

Neuroscientist and Management Consultant, Cortina McCurry, created Caia with her business partner Rob Haggett.

The aim is to empower women with specific health and wellness information, and even a consult, wherever and whenever they need to.

Birth Beat

Although it was born back in 2012, Birth Beat has been quietly making big waves. In 2018 they took part in HCF’s Catalyst Accelerator and as a result, eventually partnered to offer the service to members.

The brainchild of Edwina Sharrock, it effectively is an all-encompassing virtual Midwife, offering courses, online forums, videos and support for pregnant women and their partners.
